I tried to start the engine on the secondary ignition. I got a few pops and backfires. Spent some time with the fuel off and no plugs installed, spinning the engine with a timing light to see when/what plugs were firing. It wasn't very conclusive, but when there was a plug firing indication, it didn't seem to line up with #1 cylinder near 28 degrees BTC. I double checked the valve adjustments and plug wiring. All seemed in order. Tried a start on the mags only and the engine started and ran pretty well. I went back and rotated the secondary trigger 180 degrees. The engine started on the secondary only, but was noticeably hard cranking. I suspected the timing was too advanced, so retarded the trigger. When #1 is at 28 deg BTC, the mark on the trigger is now near the 6:00 position. The engine then started easily on the secondary. Tried flipping back and forth between primary and secondary ignitions and there was no noticeable RPM drop, so I guess they are pretty close to the same firing position.
Turned the cylinder selector and I was seeing CHT's and EGT's on all cylinders.
The wide band oxygen sensor was changing, but I didn't run the engine long enough for a stable reading.
The Tiny-Tach appeared to be reading correctly (not twice or half what I expected) and was counting up run time. Now shows a total of 3 minutes run time.
Oil pressure was reading about 60 psi at 1600 rpm.
Didn't run long enough for an oil temp reading (100f minimum on the gauge).
I noticed I couldn't shut off the engine by pulling the mixture to full off so I need to make some adjustments at the mixture lever.
